The O'Hallorans

The OHallorans

We’re made up of Lyndsey, John and Erin, who all love a new adventure. We try to get away as much as possible, especially during school holidays and variety is a must for us. That means staying anywhere from a luxury hotel to a hostel and it’s not often we go to the same place twice.

Don’t forget to dress up!

To start with, there’s loads of great photo opportunities so make sure you dress up in your best Halloween costumes. Me and John didn’t dress up but Erin loved picking out something special to wear for the event. Although this is a Halloweenevent, it’s spooky rather than scary and suitable for all ages.

Pick up a lantern

The event starts in the spooky woods, which is lit up beautifully. You can learn a bit more about Twig or Treat here, thanks to the huge books dotted around. You’ll also find magical creatures such as the Bewilderbat hidden in the trees. It’s a magical feeling walking around the woods for this Twig or Treat Halloween event, and it’s somewhere you don’t get to go usually on a day trip to Bewilderwood. This magical light trail is unforgettable!

Stop at the Storytelling Stage

Once you reach one of the main parts of Bewilderwood you’ll see the Storytelling Stage, where you can watch a brand new 10-minute show. The story is repeated fairly often so even if you miss one, you won’t wait too long before it starts again. Someone will announce how long it will be until the next story starts anyway. While you wait, you can stop for a hot drink or a snack!

Twig or Treat at Bewilderwood

Next up you can skip the hassle of traditional trick-or-treating and take part in a Twig or Treat adventure through the woods. Walk around Bewilderwood, and experience Halloween like never before, as you look for different doors along the way. Behind each one you will find characters such as the Thornyclod Spider and Swampy. Don’t miss the chance say “Twig or Treat” as loud as you can, and interact with these beloved characters.

Erin Twig or Treating at Bewilderwood Norfolk

All of us, adults included, loved seeing what each of the characters would do. Some were more entertaining than others and everyone will walk away with a favourite. This is such a lovely twist on trick-or-treating and it’s something everyone can enjoy. Each character has a bit of a surprise too!

We tended to wait a little bit at each door before our encounter if someone was already there. Erin wanted to experience the excitement of getting the character to come out herself. It was delightful to see her so engaged in the event.

A magical light trail

Towards the end of the event, after you pass where the Bewilderboat is, you’ll see the most enchanting light trail. Seeing the woods all lit up and sparkly was amazing, and such a difference from visiting during the day. It’s worth waiting around to see the lights change too, as the woods look great in different colours.

A treat at the end

At the end of this fun-filled Halloween event children will receive 1 bag of skittles and a bookmark!

How long does the event last?

Depending how long you stop at each area, of if you take lots of pictures in the light trail (like me), you can expect to spend somewhere between 1.5 hours to 2 hours at Twig or Treat.
