Richardson's Hemsby Beach Holiday Park

The O'Hallorans

The OHallorans

We’re made up of Lyndsey, John and Erin, who all love a new adventure. We try to get away as much as possible, especially during school holidays and variety is a must for us. That means staying anywhere from a luxury hotel to a hostel and it’s not often we go to the same place twice.

Activities

Richardson’s Hemsby Beach Holiday Park has so much to offer when it comes to activities. Whether you’re looking for something for older kids, young children or the whole family, you’re bound to find something to do here.

Family Entertainment Centre

The Family Entertainment Centre is a great place for indoor activities. Not only can you grab dinner in the Galley Fish Bar but there’s tenpin bowling (with a glow in the dark, underwater-themed backdrop) American pool, air hockey, augmented reality darts and soft play areas. You don’t have to be a guest to enjoy these activities either as they can be used and paid for by anyone.

Just outside you’ll find a small play area and some cool climbing activities; the Crows’ Nest high ropes and the Coconut Tree Climb. These climbing walls are so much fun and are perfect for children who might want to challenge themselves. Staff are on hand to help if children get stuck and they’re also really encouraging. Erin hadn’t done high ropes much before and needed a bit of a confidence boost! She came off the Crow’s Nest feeling great about herself and she had so much fun.

Around the park you’ll find lots of different activities to keep the whole family busy. Some of these need to be booked and paid for in advance while others can be done spontaneously and booked at the Hire Shop! Some of the activities include:

  • Fencing
  • Archery
  • Body zorbing
  • Sea Scooters and Snorkelling
  • Airboardz
  • Pool party at the heated indoor swimming pool
  • Water Walkerz

We tried a couple of activities during our day at Richardson’s Hemsby Beach Holiday Park. The hire karts are a great way to get around the park, and see all of the different kinds of accommodation that’s available. It would be a great idea to get these on your first day just to get your bearings of the park and figure out where everything is!

Our favourite activity by far was the Water Wars Wet Play Attraction. Up to 4 players can go up against each other in this pirate themed attraction, where water balloons are thrown at each other from opposing sides. You will get wet so be sure to bring your flip flops and a towel to dry off with afterwards. This one is next level fun!

Food and drink

If you don’t fancy cooking while you’re on holiday then Richardon’s has you covered with some delicious places to eat on-site.

The Quarterdeck Restaurant has something for everyone, serving cooked breakfasts, burgers, grills, pizzas and children’s meals. There are vegan options too!

Another lovely option is to eat at the Galley Fish Bar. You’ll find classics such as battered sausages, delicious fish and chips, fish finger sandwiches and those all important chippy sides like curry sauce or mushy peas. There’s also stuffed crust pizzas, sharing boxes, and children’s meals.

Just across the road you’ll find the Coastal Cafe, perfect for a light bite, cake or milkshake! Richardson’s caters really well for vegans, having plenty of options in each of their restaurants or cafes and this was great to see!

Entertainment

No coastal holiday would be the same without some entertainment. We managed to stay for some of the evening entertainment in the family-friendly Quarterdeck Show Bar. We were able to see some of the children’s entertainment during this time, with the fantastic staff teaching the kids dances and having a great time at the mini disco. As well as children’s entertainment, there are also great shows and entertainers. Don’t forget to buy tickets for bingo too!

Richardson’s Hemsby Beach Holiday Park is the perfect base for a holiday on the Norfolk coast. You’re not far from the historic centre of Norwich, Hemsby’s golden sandy beach and action-packed Great Yarmouth. There’s so much to do on-site though, that you might not want to leave at all!
