Every year we go on holiday to a Haven site, usually in Norfolk. There are so many different activities to choose from while you’re there and it can be hard to know what to expect. Read on to find out more about Haven Sand Bottle Creations.
How to book
You can book activities in advance of your Haven holiday online, or on the My Haven app. You can browse through the days of your holiday to see when certain activities are available. It might be that some activities are only run once during this time.
If you book in advance, you can do so via your Haven account or the app. You will need to select the day and time of the activity from the activity listings, and how many people will be participating. Adults supervising don’t need to pay for a space. You will need to pay in advance when booking via the app.
Booking is also possible at the Haven site you’re staying at. There is usually a desk or area for booking any activities, possibly in the family entertainment centre.

Get creative!
We took part in this activity at Haven Seashore, however, it’s popular and done at a lot of the other Haven sites. Creative activities tend not to cost a fortune at Haven and are easy to set up and do.
This activity is led by one of the team at Haven, who will tell you exactly what you need to do and how to do it. I always find the staff at Haven to be super friendly and they’re great with little kids, as well as the older ones. Activities like this are a great way to learn something new, maybe make some new friends and take away something you’ve made on your holiday.
At the beginning of the session, children (or adults) will pick where they want to sit, as well as one of the sand art bottles. The bottles are empty at the beginning and it is the participant’s job to be as creative as possible and create something amazing. The fantastic team members will arm you with loads of coloured sand, and explain how to fill the bottles. Each person will have a tray in front of them, which has on it the bottle, funnel and additional items that can be used later on. All of the tools are supplied so you only need to take yourself to the session.
Filling the bottles is fun and you can do it in a few different ways. How you put the funnel in the neck of the bottle will affect the shape of the sand inside the bottle. This could mean wavy blocks of sand, different shapes and different colours. You can use a mix of colours of sand or do larger blocks of colour. The creative part is entirely up to the participant. To ensure the sand bottles are full enough, you can knock them a bit on the table to help the coloured sand settle. Once you have a full bottle, you can use a cork in the top, which will keep everything in place. The cork is really secure so you have no worries about sand spilling out on the way home.
Once the bottles are full, children can add extra decorations. On our session, this included stickers such as beach toys, pirates and shells. Also added was a message tied around the neck of the sand bottles. This is a lovely way to add a reminder to your final product of where you made the bottle, or maybe add a message if you’re giving it to someone as a gift.
For £8, this was a fun session and one of the best prices for what you get. The 30 minutes was just long enough and Erin enjoyed coming away with something to take home; a gorgeous vacation keepsake. She still has her unique bottle on a shelf in her bedroom! It’s the perfect activity for creative kids and the whole family can get involved if they want to.
