The O'Hallorans

The OHallorans

We’re made up of Lyndsey, John and Erin, who all love a new adventure. We try to get away as much as possible, especially during school holidays and variety is a must for us. That means staying anywhere from a luxury hotel to a hostel and it’s not often we go to the same place twice.

If you’re going on a holiday to a Haven park, then you can expect there to be lots of activities to take part in. As there are lots to choose from, it can be hard to know what to pick! Find out more about Aerial Adventure, an activity we took part in at Haven Caister-On-Sea.

How to book

You can book activities in advance of your Haven holiday online, or on the My Haven app. You can browse through the days of your holiday to see when certain activities are available. It might be that some activities are only run once during this time.

If you book in advance, you can do so via your Haven account or the app. You will need to select the day and time of the activity from the activity listings, and how many people will be participating. Adults supervising don’t need to pay for a space. You will need to pay in advance when booking via the app.

Booking is also possible at the Haven site you’re staying at. There is usually a desk or area for booking any activities, possibly in the family entertainment centre.

Aerial Adventure: What can you expect from the activity?

Aerial Adventure is one of the most exciting and memorable activities you’ll find at a Haven park. If your child is up for a challenge and doesn’t mind heights, this high ropes course is a brilliant way to try something new and adventurous in a safe environment.

The session usually costs around £20 and runs for about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on group size and how quickly everyone moves around the course. It’s available at selected Haven parks, so do check ahead to see if yours offers it.

As with all the bigger activities, you’ll need to check in with the activities team beforehand and sign a safety form which is usually on a tablet. After that, it’s time to get fitted with a harness and helmet. The instructors are fantastic. They’ve been friendly, calm, and really good at helping Erin feel confident, on the sessions we’ve been on. This is great especially if they kids are a bit unsure.

Before heading up, everyone gets a safety briefing and a chance to practise how to clip on and move along the course safely. This helps kids (and adults!) get used to the gear and feel reassured before tackling the higher sections.

The course itself is a brilliant mix of fun and challenge. It usually includes rope bridges, balance beams and swinging logs; all set high above the ground. It’s designed with children in mind, but there’s still enough of a thrill to give them a real sense of accomplishment when they complete it.

Children need to meet minimum height and weight requirements to take part, so be sure to check these before booking. It’s also weather dependent. The activity may be cancelled in strong wind or rain for safety reasons. However, it was raining quite badly during one of our sessions at Haven Caister-on-Sea and it wasn’t cancelled on that occasion.

By the end of the session, kids usually come down beaming with pride – it’s an adventure they won’t forget in a hurry.
