The O'Hallorans

The OHallorans

We’re made up of Lyndsey, John and Erin, who all love a new adventure. We try to get away as much as possible, especially during school holidays and variety is a must for us. That means staying anywhere from a luxury hotel to a hostel and it’s not often we go to the same place twice.

Kolejkowo in Wrocław is a magical miniature world that promises to delight kids and adults alike. Packed with intricate miniatures and bustling tiny towns, Kolejkowo even has moving trains that bring a whimsical touch to the city. Whether you’re a local or visiting Wrocław, this is a must-do attraction.

Visiting Wroclaw’s Miniature World

I absolutely love miniature world so I was so excited to discover this one in Wroclaw. I always find them to be great fun and as this one is based in the Sky Tower, you can combine a visit with other places.

What can you expect to see?

The creators of Kolejkowo have put so much time and effort into creating what I think is are architectural masterpieces. Kolejkowo is made up of scale models representing real life towns and villages, mixed in with humour. You can look around areas modelled on real places, such as:

  • Old Town
  • A former railway station
  • City Hall
  • A rescue operation
  • A Christmas village, complete with giant Christmas tree
  • Shopping areas
  • Residential areas
  • A fun fair with roller coaster
  • Farms for rural life
  • A fire department
  • Ski slope
  • A building site with construction workers
  • Cafes serving delicious breakfasts

There is so much to see as you walk around the displays. Each has a lot of detail you definitely won’t have a hard time finding lots of fun things in each area. I really enjoyed looking at all of the individual characters and what they were doing. New characters are added too.

Kolejkowo has such large mockups of amazing places. Not only will you find miniatures of Lower Silesia but you can see moving vehicles too. Cars and trains go go to a change of location, moving around many meters of tracks. You can see them moving around the heart of Wroclaw on this vibrant model, as they cover so much space.

Changing times of day

One of the things that I loved the most about Kolejkowo is that the time of day changes over the exhibit. In real time, a whole day at Kolejkowo lasts for 9 minutes, with the sun setting for minutes. This means that you get to see a different side of the models of structures, with different things happening during both day and night. I haven’t see anything like this before at a miniature world and it was amazing to see on a first visit.

During the time changes, bits of the models might change or do different things so it’s definitely worth waiting around. One of my favourite changes was the rave on top of a building, complete with police, drones and a Fast and Furious style drift race! There are so many individual scenes to see and you can spend ages trying to find the hidden characters.

Don’t miss the storm!

Another fantastic thing not to miss is the thunder storm, which happens every 8 minutes. You can experience thunder and lightning, as well as being able to see real water fall down on the area. I thought that this was such a unique opportunity as I don’t know of anywhere else that does something like this. The storm has it’s own unique atmosphere and I loved watching this. It’s nice to be surprised at an attraction.

How long should you spend at Kolejkowo?

It’s easy to spent at least 1 hour at Kolejkowo and I would advise allowing a bit more than this for your visit. As the exhibit has areas that change over time, you want want to wait around for this.

Would I recommend visiting?

Kolejkowo was one of my favourite attractions while I was in Wroclaw. Although I was visiting a new place, it was nice to see replicas of the heart of Wroclaw and buildings I could already recognise. I couldn’t believe how different this miniature world was compared to others I have visited before. There was so much that I wasn’t expecting to see and I felt like there was surprises around every corner. On top of that children are able to have school trips here, which is just amazing. Whether you’re visiting Wroclaw with or without children, this should definitely be on your list of places to visit.
