AD | PR visit
Sometimes when you’re dining out with children it can be easy to stick to the same selection of fast food or restaurants. This is something we often do ourselves, knowing everyone will be happy with the choice. However, as we look to expand our choices, we recently visited the brand-new Chopstix Norwich restaurant.
Where is Chopstix?
The newest Chopstix restaurant in Norwich can be found just near the market. With excellent bus and train links in the city, it’s only a short walk from both the train station and the bus station.
Address:
31 Gentleman’s Walk, Norwich, NR2 1NB.
Opening times
Monday – Sunday: 11am – 10pm
Boxes, toppings and sides
This was our first ever time at a Chopstix restaurant so we didn’t really know what we were doing beforehand. However, this particular location had a menu board outside so we were able to figure things out a bit ahead of ordering and figure out what we all might want.
If you have children who maybe aren’t sure, this is a great opportunity to talk through the options with them. We were all able to have a good look at the menu without getting stressed about anyone behind us waiting to order, or holding up the queue.
Chopstix offers 3 different size boxes for their ‘meals’ which are small, medium and large. Each box comes with a base of either Egg Fried Rice, Vegetable Noodles or Skinny Rice. You then choose either 1, 2 or 3 toppings depending on the size of your box. Toppings include BBQ Chicken, Pumpkin Katsu Curry, Orange Chicken and Teriyaki Beef (just to name a few).
These boxes can be purchased on their own or you can upgrade to a meal deal which then inlcudes a drink and Spring Rolls. Sides available also include Mini Crispy Chicken Bites, Salt N Pepper Potatoes and Churros.
A family feast
We all very easily found something we wanted to eat. John had a medium box with 2 toppings while I stuck with a small one because I know it would be a lot of food! The base of vegetable noodles (that we both had) was very generous and you get a lot for your money here. I was really happy with the small box but I definitely think that John would like the large next time, just so he can have an extra topping!
Children’s options
There is no children’s menu at Chopstix however, this wasn’t really an issue for us or Erin. She was able to order vegetable noodles in a box for a lower price and then we added 10 Mini Crispy Chicken Bites (these also come as a quantity of 30). This was perfect for Erin as it was just enough and exactly what she wanted. Erin isn’t the most adventurous when it comes to food but she did actually try a Spring Roll and my Sweet & Sour Chicken.
Is it family friendly?
This is a tricky one because really, it depends on your children. While Erin enjoyed what she had, she only had a few options. However, more adventurous children will love being able to choose what goes in their own boxes.
One slight issue we had at this location is the seating inside the restaurant. There are some 2 seater tables and some tables with high stool style seats. If you go in with a pram or pushchair, you might find it quite cramped with not a lot of space.
Will we go back?
Absolutely! It was so nice to have somewhere different to have lunch while we were in Norwich. Food is ready when you get there and it only takes a few minutes to put together an order for a family our size. When you have hungry children, being fast definitely helps!
