The O'Hallorans

The OHallorans

We’re made up of Lyndsey, John and Erin, who all love a new adventure. We try to get away as much as possible, especially during school holidays and variety is a must for us. That means staying anywhere from a luxury hotel to a hostel and it’s not often we go to the same place twice.

What kinds of food can you expect?

Being a buffet restaurant, you can expect authentic world food at Cosmo. There’s everything here from a roast dinner, delicious spicy curry, dim sum, pasta dishes, a brand new cheese fountain and nacho station, sushi, pizza and even a teppenyaki station.  There’s a really wide range of food available, with buffet stations being refilled regularly.

Dining at COSMO Norwich as a family

The first thing to note when dining at Cosmo Norwich as a family, is how relaxed the restaurant is. Not only did we get a warm welcome when we arrived, but staff are so helpful and always seen to be clearing tables. It’s not a fancy restaurant so children will be able to relax and have a good time. There are different kinds of tables available, from booths to regular restaurant set ups, with something to accommodate most needs.

If, like us, your child has been a fussy eater at some point, a restaurant like Cosmo is such a welcome addition to the list of places you might go to eat in Norwich. It can sometimes be hard to find something that everyone likes in the same place, and you don’t want to waste money on a meal that your child isn’t sure about.

Cosmo’s authentic world buffet restaurant experience is perfect for families for many reasons. The buffet is laid out with different kinds of foods in the same area, so you can easily find out which areas to head for first e.g. skip the Indian food if that’s not for you. However, it’s also a good idea to take your child to look around everything that’s available. You never know what they might like the look of.

For us, Cosmo is a dream for getting Erin to try something new. Not only do you not have to pay per dish, you can have as much or as little as you like. This is great for children as they might only want 1 small piece or 1 of something, just to try it. If they like it, they can easily go back for more!

Is the food good?

We have been to Cosmo many times over the years and also the week after the refurbishment and I don’t think we’ve ever had something we didn’t enjoy. During busy periods you might need to wait at stations like the teppenyaki, or que a bit for something that’s popular.

When it comes to the food… we absolutely love it. As a family, we all have different tastes and favourites, and we’re not able to eat what we want a lot of the time when we go to other restaurants. Not only has the food always been fresh, and you can see it being replenished quite often, it tastes great! A personal favourite of mine is the sweet and sour chicken, Erin loves the BBQ ribs and freshly cooked steak, while John will always get sushi or Indian food.

Do you need to book

Cosmo can get very busy at the weekend and during school holidays. There is an online booking form on the website, however, they can also accept walk-ins. While you don’t need to book, it is best for you during busier times.

Would we go back?

We really love Cosmo as a restaurant for families, and we all always seem to have a great time. As far as food choices go, you can’t ask for much better than what Cosmo offers, and there’s something we all like, all of the time. Although the price is a bit on the expensive side, especially at weekends, you do get great value for money and you can eat as much as you like. While Cosmo isn’t somewhere we will go reall regularly, it is somewhere we will go at least a few times a year.
